Camps
Bard Unbound's camps get students on their feet, playing in an abbreviated (20 minute) version of a Shakespeare play or a collection of scenes. In a typical 5 day camp, students are involved in exercises that familiarize them with their cast mates and working together, as well as exercises for focus, quick thinking and creativity.
The plays include the characters, language and skeleton of the plot, but with enough narration to explain the action and a "Monty Python" edge to the whole piece. However, by getting the language in their mouths and physically learning the plot and characters , the students learn the play in a fun, non-threatening way.
Students perform in an Elizabethan style- lights remain on, characters interact with the audience and a prompter is on hand to help with forgotten lines. Students also sit around the the edge of the performance space so to enhance focus.
